Versatility and Me

image

Thank you so much to ErikaKind for nominating me for The Versatile Blogger Award!! It’s such an honor to be thought of by you as worthy of this award!

There are, of course, rules to go with this award. I will get into that later.

First, an explanation. I am by no means a scientist although I am always interested in the science behind whatever it is I am thinking about. The “whys” and “how comes” have become nagging friends of mine, always demanding explanations.  However, I am one to love a good experiment (even if it is subconscious).

That is probably why I love to cook. I have allowed myself to not be restrained by recipes and really just use them as a guide. Taking a bunch of ingredients and mixing them together is creative. The result for me is just icing in the cake. It’s the process I really enjoy.

Same with clothes.  A fashionista I am not but I am so entertained walking through a mall or a store and eyeing the fabrics and patterns.  It’s all eye candy. (My husband wishes I didn’t have such a sweet tooth)!

Writing is obviously also creative.  One does not need to write well to still get the thrill of stringing words together and making a point. When it becomes interactive you know your words have made an impact.  That’s the most phenomenal feeling of all.

The truth is we are all versatile. Everyone has various interests and/or hobbies.  People are educated in multiple doctrines. Some of us are more expert at one thing or another and have chosen to direct their energies into focusing on that particular subject. I do not have the attention span for that!😬

Bouncing from one idea/activity to the other is much more my speed. One day cooking, another writing, reading, shopping, gardening, I never know what I’ll be inspired to blog about.

When I was young I always heard ” do something you love”.  I could never pick.  I love too many things. I decided I love my family best of all and since I was blessed with the opportunity to be a stay at home mom I chose that. I have been blessed again to be writing a blog that includes all of my passions. To be considered a Versatile Blogger means to me that I have been recognized for being myself.

That is awesome!

So again, thank you Erika Kind for such an awesome award.

Color Blind #thedress

What color is this?  Blue and black or white and gold?
image

This is the question trending in all social media this morning!  I see white and gold.

I heard about it first online and then on television this morning and then read about it on Huffington Post. Wired wrote why this is happening;

“What’s happening here is your visual system is looking at this thing, and you’re trying to discount the chromatic bias of the daylight axis,” says Bevil Conway, a neuroscientist who studies color and vision at Wellesley College. “So people either discount the blue side, in which case they end up seeing white and gold, or discount the gold side, in which case they end up with blue and black.” (Conway sees blue and orange, somehow.)

Whichever axis I am discounting, the dress is actually blue and black.
